Feather
I collaborated with a team of WHOI engineers to develop Feather—a kilowatt-scale, collapsible wind turbine designed to power oceanographic sensors in harsh, marine environments. As the mechatronics lead on the project, I designed the control system, integrated a motor controller to optimize the tip-speed ratio of the turbine, and worked on a PCB to provide over-voltage protection. Beyond powering oceanography, a network of Feather turbines could also be used to generate electricity in remote communities.
